Heilige Geestkerkhof 25

In 2009, it was exactly 400 years ago that Hugo de Groot wrote Mare Liberum, a work that is currently considered as one of the main roots of current international maritime law. Because of this anniversary, the Haags Toonkunstkoor commissioned a musical oratorio by the Dutch composer Roel van Oosten, which had its premiere on 11th of December, 2009 with the Residentie Orchestra conducted by our conductor Daan Admiraal, in the Dr. Anton Philipszaal in The Hague.

The Haags Toonkunstkoor has asked Krashna Musika to support the following two performances of this work with both our choir and our orchestra. These performances will take place on Tuesday, 1st of June in Delft (the city of Hugo de Groot) and on Saturday, 5th of June in Hamburg (the city of international maritime law).

Krashna is reponsible for the further programme of the concert on 1st of June. From 20.15 h, the following programme will be played in the Oude Kerk in Delft, with as main theme 'the sea':
Charles Villiers Stanford - The Revenge: A Ballad of the Fleet (choir and orchestra)
Henry Hadley - The Ocean (orchestra) (Dutch premiere!)
Roel van Oosten - Mare Liberum (choir and orchestrac, in cooperation with the Haags Toonkunstkoor)
