Music Worlds Festival

Musical persons in and around Delft, a special day is approaching for you! On Saturday, 1st of May, the "Music Worlds" festival will take place at the Culture building of Delft University of Technology. From 10 - 18 h, there will be public masterclasses, workshops, small concerts, lectures and more. Would you like to be part of a classical music masterclass with one of our wonderful professional teachers? Or would you be interested in participating in free workshops in djembé or kecak? On Sunday, 2nd of May, a chamber music concert will take place in which masterclass participants will perform. From 20.15 h, you can listen in room 232 of the Culture building to the musical results that the participants have been able to achieve with all professional tips they got on Saturday.
Classical Music Masterclasses
Walk in and listen to lessons with one of our four wonderful teachers. Our piano teacher is Han-Louis Meijer, pianist and conservatoire teacher in The Hague. The string teacher is Ruben Sanderse, viola player and chamber music teacher at the Woudschoten summer course. The winds teacher is René Pagen, French horn player in the Residentie Orchestra and a teacher of the famous Orlando Festival. And last but not least, our singing teacher is Carina Vinke, a successful alt/mezzo soloist.
World music festival workshops and other activities
As for world music activities, expect activities in which you can actively get involved in a.o. the following topics:
- History of the classical ballad
- African roots of jazz music
- Minimal Music (own instruments welcome!)
- Latin American music (own instruments welcome!)
- Djembé
- Kecak (Balinese voice techniques
The festival takes place from 10-18 h. The closing concert will start at 16 h. After the concert, you will be able to have a drink till 18 h. The full programme can be found in the agenda item!
