In what will be the highlight of the season, the Krashna Musika symphony orchestra and choir are collaborating with the VU-Koor of Amsterdam to make a tremendous project a reality: On March 1st of 2022, we will be performing Verdi's Requiem in the Grote Zaal of the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Together with renowned soloists Charlotte Janssen, Florieke Beelen, Leon van Liere and Jasper Leever, we will be united under the baton of Ruben de Grauw. Ruben has been our choir conductor for the past ten years, and this concert will constitute the culmination of a decade of fruitful collaboration.

Verdi wrote his famous Messa da Requiem in 1873 to commemorate the death of a dear friend, the Italian poet Manzoni. The piece is often likened to an opera: the music expresses the Roman Catholic funeral mass in a dramatic and breathtaking way. Verdi does not shy away from seeking emotional boundaries, taking the audience through deep despair, thunderous rage and powerful hope. A captivating experience you do not want to miss!

We are grateful to be receiving financial aid from various sides for this endeavor. Specifically, we would like to thank our main project sponsors, VSBfonds and the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Noord-Holland, for their ongoing support.
