On Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th of February, Krashna’s winterconcerts will take place. At these concerts in the Geertekerk in Utrecht and the auditorium of the TU Delft, Fauré’s Requiem and Mahler’s 5th symphony will be performed.
Fauré’s Requiem is a dramatical liturgical journey in which the Lord is praised, but also forgiveness is asked nearing the end. The piece is less explosive and more lovely than Verdi’s Requiem that Krashna performed in March of 2022. The choir will perform this work in combination with a large part of the orchestra, conducted by our conductor Ruben de Grauw. Solo performances by soprano Elise van Es and baritone Joep van Geffen.
Mahler’s 5th symphony is, just like his previous works, strongly connected with his personal life. While grief can be heard in this symphony, just like in his earlier symphonies, the fourth movement can be regarded as a love letter to his later wife Alma Schindler. This symphony will be conducted by Stijn Berkouwer.
